Open vs closed questions
Closed questions get yes or no. Open questions get stories, and stories contain the real problem.
Open question starters
- What made you start looking for a premium laptop?
- How are you handling this today?
- Why is this important right now?
- What would a good result look like for you?
Closed questions are still useful, but only to confirm details at the end.
Say this
- “How are you solving this at the moment?”
Avoid this
- “Are you happy with your current option? (yes/no, conversation over)”
